State Qualifier in Reedley, CA

9/12/08-9/14/08: Reedley, CA State Qualifier for Justin. He did such a great job. We left Friday late morning and drove down. Reedley is by Fresno. It was HOT, but we managed. Justin is racing for a new team, Team Icee. You know, like the ICEE drinks. He does not have his team jersey yet, but it is on it's way. So we all got free icee's from the team manager and the ICEE booth. Which the kids of course loved, and it was perfect weather for it.
Justin did a good job. He is still adjusting to being in the new novice class. There are a few kids that are so fast and I think it intimidates him. Although he would never admit it. He was so use to being the best and always winning in the rookie class. We are pretty confident that with time he will get back up to the top and start winning all the time again, we have been trying to explain that to Justin for a while now.
He had one crash this weekend. It was not even his fault, another kid came form the other side of the track and took him out. We were a little angry because he got a had a great start out of the gate and was out front. But Justin was a trooper and jumped right up and looked around and found his bike in the mess of bikes and pulled it out and flipped it around and jumped right back on and took off to finish the race. We were so proud of him. That was a big mature thing for him to do. He didn't pout or cry or even throw a fit. We were proud parents at that moment. He is such a good boy, and so well behaved, and is just an all around great kid.
He has 2 more races before the season ends. The last state qualifier in Prunedale and then Las Vegas for the Nationals and the Regionals. Then we can relax and not go anywhere for a while. Thank goodness, the gas for all these trips in the RV is KILLING me. We will keep you posted on the upcoming races.
