Lauren Gets hurt AGAIN !!!!!

8/08/08: So Lauren was playing in Justin's room and they were playing on his bed. Lauren ran from one side of the bed to the other and then JUMPED. Justin has a really high bed, and when she landed she broke her leg. We went to urgent care and took x-rays and they confirmed she had broken her Right tibia and fibula. Right above her ankle and right near her growth plates. So we had to go to Walnut Creek to John Muir ER, and have a pediatric orthopedic specialist look at her x-rays to make sure that her growth plates were not injured. And they weren't, thank goodness. So they put a temporary splint on all the way up to her thigh. And on Monday we will go back and have a regular cast put on. And she has already said that she wants a pink one. She will need to wear the cast for 6 weeks, and she is not able to walk or put any weight on it at all. So she will need to be carried everywhere and all the time. Good thing that she only weighs 26 lbs.

She was such a brave girl. We were so proud of her. She did so good and barely cried. We will have to see how she does on Monday when they put the regular cast on.

We also learned a valuable lesson in our house about playing and jumping on beds. Justin felt really bad, and he cried and was scared for his sister. He felt like it was his fault. Of course it was not, but still we took advantage of the moment to teach a great lesson. That mommy makes certain rules for good reasons. And playing on Justin's bed was one of them. Justin also learned a good lesson about actually listening to me when I tell him something. So hopefully this won't happen again.
