2008 Flud Family Camping

8/01/08: So the Flud family camping trip finally arrived. We were so excited and the kids could barely contain themselves on the ride there. They love camping. And knowing that their cousins and both sets of grandparents were going to be there, they couldn't wait to see them all. The kids swam, and played in the mud by the beach. Auntie Deanna brought special crafts for them to make, and they played board games, and danced with Lil' Waylon. We roasted marshmallows, or "Arshmallows" as Lauren calls them, every night. They were always a sticky mess. Lauren's hair was out of control thanks to Deanna, she loves to pull her ponytails out and fluff her hair.
We had ice cream cone night, which the kids loved. or again as Lauren calls it "Rice cream" That was great. On a hot night, having ice cream, thanks to the freezers in ours and Johnny's motor homes. I think that is going to be a new tradition. Most every one got seconds.
Gramma Nancy and Papa Ron made salmon one night, and tired to get Lauren to eat it, and she did not like it, and spit it out in gramma's hand. At least she tired it. Justin was on marshmallow patrol each night, he was usually the first to start the roasting.
The kids were filthy. But what do you do. No amount of quick wash downs was going to get that dirt out. They had to soak in the tub when we got home. And the laundry was out of control. I am still doing it, I think I am on my last load, 2 days later. Good Grief!!!
Gramma Elaine got sick while we were there, and she ended up having to go to the hospital. We were all very bummed about that, it was not the same without her there. She is doing fine now, so all is good. We missed her dearly, and look forward to next year when she can stay the whole time.
So all in all, we had a good trip. The weather was perfect and it was pretty peaceful. We have already booked it for next year. Can't wait till 2009!!!!
