Lauren gets hurt

3/31/08: So Lauren had her first big injury. I am hoping that we are done with accidents for a while. They say things come in three's so I am done. First Jason's injury, then Justin's , now Lauren. So Lauren and Justin were sitting at the kitchen table coloring together. They were being quiet and getting along. No fighting over crayons or anything. Then it was like it happened in slow motion. I saw it happening, and I just could not get there fast enough. She fell off the chair and hit her face on the corner of the other chair. It was awful. She was screaming and I picked her up and her eye was bleeding really bad. She ended up puncturing/cutting a big gash in her face right next to her left eye. So we took her to the ER and she had to get 4 stitches. She was so good. She climbed into the papoose (that is a child restraint thing) she climbed into it all by herself. The ER doctor and nurse was so surprised. They said that they have never had a child of her age climb into it with being forced. She was so good and did not cry until they had to inject the numbing medicine. Then of course she started screaming. Because those of you who know and have had this done. That hurts like a %&!*#%!........ if you know what I mean. After that she was OK and did so great. They only put 3 stitches in at first, and then let her out of the papoose, and then decided that they wanted to put one more in. So Lauren climbed right back onto the table and just lied there so good for them. They did not even put her back into the papoose. She lied real still and put her little hands at her side and just stayed as still as can be. I was so proud of her. Seeing how brave and good she was is what actually made me cry.

So who would have thought that Lauren would get stitches before her brother? Not, me that is for sure. So she is doing great now. And yesterday, her Aunt Bonnie, sent her a flower basket and balloons. She was so excited. They were addressed to Miss. Lauren. She said, "that's me" it was very cute. So the last picture is of her sitting next to her flowers holding her balloons.
Hopefully this will be the last injury for our family for a long time.
